Bermuda lawn restoration

PREPARATION:
  1. Kill all weeds in lawn area 1 to 3 weeks before restoration.
  2. Spread DispersulTM or soil sulfur at a rate of 5 pounds per 100 square feet of lawn area.
  3. Increase watering of lawn.
RESTORATION:
  1. Mow lawn at shortest setting.
  2. Aerate lawn area; twice on bare patches.
  3. Order screened silt (1 yard per 200 - 300 square feet.)
  4. Rent a dethatcher and a sod roller.
  5. Mark sprinkler head locations to prevent damage.
  6. WARNING! Wear protective gear. Dethatch lawn area in two directions.
  7. Rake up lawn clipping, spread a light layer over bare patches and dispose of the remainder.
  8. Spray bare patches with water. Repeat watering every 30 minutes until irrigation timer is programmed.
  9. Spread screened silt over repair areas and in ruts, dips, and low spots.
  10. Spray lawn area with water.
  11. Roll lawn area 3 or 4 times in several directions with half-filled sod roller, then two thirds-filled sod roller.
  12. Repeat steps 9 through 11 until uniformity is achieved.
  13. Spread New Lawn StarterTM or equivalent fertilizer at manufacturer's recommended rate over lawn area.
  14. Soak lawn area.
  15. Program irrigation timer to water the lawn area 6 to 10 times a day for 2 to 3 weeks. AVOID STANDING WATER!
  16. After second mowing, fertilize with a complete lawn fertilizer.
